Winter

Winter in Chelan: Great rates, peace and quiet, and….snow?  Lake Chelan is a magnificent setting in the Winter.  With 300 average days of sunshine each year, you are likely to find many dry crisp days as well as the occasional lake-level snowfall.

Don’t be fooled by the quiet of winter in the valley.  There are plenty of folks who steal away to Chelan for a long weekend to relax, dry out from the rain, and chase adventure.  Some are inside by the fire while others are in the surrounding snowy hills and mountains.  However you “hibernate” in the Winter, there is something here for everyone during the “sleepy” season.

Snowmobiling is “world class” at Lake Chelan.  With over 150 miles of groomed trails you can ride all day as a beginner or expert.  Power your way to Cooper Mountain (pictured) on a clear day and you can see for dozens of miles in all directions.

There are a few rental agencies in the area providing bare sleds as well as guided tours. Echo Valley and Antillon Lake Sno-Parks are nearby.  Please check each link for grooming reports and regulations before hitting the trails.

When was the last time you went “inner-tubing”?  Echo Valley Ski Area is a non-profit family ski area.  There is a rope tow and ski/snowboard hill as well as a groomed “tubing hill” for a great day in the snow with family and friends.  Skis and tubes are available for rent and the inner-tubes sell out early.  First one to the bottom wins!

For Nordic skiing fans, Echo Ridge is adjacent to Echo Valley ski area and offers miles of groomed trails as well as breathtaking views of the Chelan Valley.

And just 60 minutes from your home on the lake, Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort is fast-becoming a favorite Winter destination.  Mission Ridge offers 36 runs, over 2000 acres of terrain, and snow-making equipment to help keep it all running smoothly throughout the season.

The spirit of Chelan is alive and well during the Winter.  There are plenty of activities and festivals open to all throughout the season. Come have some fun!
